Marathon

40F7E87C-5F42-48BE-89C6-F99CB62A4B17

It’s a marathon

Sometimes a bloody one unfortunately

Sacrifices are being made with lives lost or imprisonment

But the energy of the youth propelling this movement is endless

Their idealism and hope for change fuels their cause

They want better lives

They are done with the status quo

They plan and organize

They march and they chant

And they cannot be beaten into submission

These youth have attracted the attention of the world

People in Germany, UK, Sweden and South America

Have heard their anthem of freedom

Artists are singing their song

The world is watching

Persians overseas and others are walking with the people of Iran

This is a just cause

The demands are simple: woman, life, freedom!

The point of no return

04751D06-DDEC-437F-B718-BC856D971869

I see people persisting and persevering

I hear their cries

Asking for freedom

Asking for equality

Asking for justice

I see people paying a price

With bullets in their bodies

With their bruises and injuries

With being intimidated and arrested

I see people’s bravery

Women removing their headscarves

The symbol of subservience

When not their choice

Men standing with women

Boys and girls arising

I see Iranians outside Iran

Supporting their bothers and sisters

Worrying for their safely

Admiring their courage

Praying for their well being

I wonder how long those in Iran have to

Put their lives on the line?

When will other compatriots join them and support them?

When will government agents stop hitting

And  sometimes killing their own people?

Their own brothers and sisters?

Their own compatriots?

When will this talisman break?

When will this darkness give way to light?

When will the people’s wishes for justice materialize?

The future is bright

But the path is to freedom

Is paved with blood and sacrifice and

Unity is the hallmark of victory

We are reaching a point of no return

Can this nightmare be coming to an end?

For the brave women and men of Iran

The path

babie's breath

One needs to listen to one’s heart

One needs to honour one’s spirit

There are many roads one can take in life

The choice is ours

There are many shoulds and musts

There are many social dictates

If we all went the same way

No new way would be found

Have faith in your choices

Do what your hearts tells you to do

Of the many roads you can take

Choose the one that delights your heart

There will be foggy patches

There will be unpaved areas

There will be many an oasis

There will be delightful parts

Don’t judge the path other people take

Don’t worry about being judged

We each have different destinies

And we are the architects of our own lives

Can I please?

image

I know I need to be thankful

But can I complain a little please?

I know I am blessed

But can I feel a little sorry for myself?

I know we all suffer in different ways

But can I ask why me?

I know life is full of ups and downs

But can I now go down please?

Can I complain about

All the times I felt I could not do the simplest things?

All the times I didn’t want to get up and start the day?

All the times I had to push myself to arrange things?

All the times I told myself to hang in there a little longer

All the times I got frustrated

And my patience ran out?

All the times I would see the long road ahead

With no respite?

At least let me pat myself on the back

For surviving this time

Knowing that I could not have done it

Without my family and friends

At least let me be proud of myself

For persevering again

Milestones

3717CB9F-7EED-4738-AAB9-2219DFF94BCE

Milestones need to be marked

Achievements need to be acknowledged

Successes need to be celebrated

Why?

To recognize the effort, the dedication and the perseverance

That has gone into achieving a goal

Reaching a long term goal requires vision, action and persistence

There are road blocks on the way

There are unpaved roads one must travel

There are storms that one must face

One may come to the edge of the abyss of giving up

One may travel the road of despair

It’s a choice to persevere

And after all that

One needs to celebrate

Not only the accomplishments

But also the qualities one has developed along the way

The story of courage

Seeking truth and looking for it everywhere

The story of curiosity

Trying to understand society and its development

The story of action

Not content with theoretical knowledge

The story of love

Love for one’s fellow man

Love for the Devine

The story of an ardent search

Unencumbered by tradition

The story of friendships

Transformative friendships

The story of sacrifice

Not compromising one’s beliefs

The story of challenges

Arriving one after another

The story of perseverance

In the face of trials

And finally the story of freedom

Freedom to be

Freedom to love

Freedom to serve one’s fellow man

Not needing to hide

The story of audacity of the

Descendants of the Dawnbreakers

The story of Milad

It is what it is

It is what it is
Stop fighting with yourself
Accept the moment, as is

You feel change is happening slowly
That might be
But worrying about it
Won’t speed things up
If anything
It will create roadblocks

Sometimes it’s two steps forward
One step back
Others have gone through this
Take a deep breath
And get back on track!

It is what it is
It’s not bad
Even when it’s hard
It may lead you
To something new and grand

When it’s difficult
Persevere
Perseverance separates the weak
From the strong

It is what it is
This phrase frees you from worry
From disappointment
From questioning and doubt

Courage!

Courage to change
Courage to grow
Courage to see things
From another view point

Courage to learn
Courage to explore
Courage to go where
One has not gone before

Courage to dream
Courage to work toward that dream
Courage to persevere
Endlessly

Courage to get up
When we fall
Courage to learn
And move on

Courage to face our fears
And overcome
Courage to accept that yet again
We may fall

Courage to love
And be loved
Courage to be able to
Stand one’s ground

Courage to be different
Stand out
Courage to say
What others might not

Courage to be in the
Vanguard of change
Courage is needed
If we want change
