When I don’t write, I’m not me
Writing has become such a big part of me
When I don’t write something is wrong
When I feel good, I write quickly
Words flow
Ideas are there, no hesitation
The page is filled in a few minutes
And I’ve said my piece
When I don’t open my notebook
And if I do, words trickle down ever so slowly
I miss being me

I don’t think of myself as a poet
A writer, perhaps
A recorder if my reality
One who writes to be consoled
To be understood
To understand
To explore
To share
To celebrate
To make known
I’ve always written
And I always will
Writing is part of my identity
And if what I write moves someone
Or brings them joy
If it has meaning for them
And makes them feel less alone
I feel blessed to be part of their world

Writing, just to write
Because writing makes me feel alive
Why do these letters and words on paper
Have so much power?
These words are the reflection of my thoughts and feelings
And my thoughts and feelings are the reality of who I am
I see myself reflected in these markings on paper
This is a snapshot of who I am at this time
The place where I am in my journey in this world
Sometimes interesting things come to my mind
And I share them with others
Writing is a means of communication
And relationships are built on communication
Our relationships are what matter and what bring us joy
So I’ll keep writing to share my feelings and thoughts
with those who will listen
And to create a self-portrait in this moment in time

Next to the window
Where the sun pours in, in the mornings

A simple Ikea chair
With a footstool
Usually covered with books
Where I do a lot of reading and writing

My oasis
My place of calm
Where I inhale the fragrance
Of other people’s thoughts and feelings
My reading chair
For the last twenty years
And for years to come

With threads of gold, silver and silk
Is a feast for the eyes
Puts a smile on my face
The craftsmanship is second to none
Created with love
Telling a story
Words, magnetic
Words, magical
Words, intricate
Conveying the complexity of the mind of the artist
Words are the emanation of the soul
Creating the most exquisite tapestry

Do you know how you anticipate eating a delicious meal that’s waiting for you?
How you can almost taste it?
How you can smell the aroma?
Do you know how you anticipate seeing a friend you haven’t seen for a while?
Basking in their company and catching up?
Do you know how you anticipate entering your warm house
When you have been walking outside in a cold winter night?
Do you know how you look forward to sleeping in your comfortable bed at the end of a long day?
When you can’t keep your eyes open any longer?
That’s how I feel when I haven’t written for a few days
When I know I’ll soon have a chance to put to paper again
My thirst will be quenched
My hunger satisfied
My fatigue will disappear
And joy will take their place
That’s what writing has come to mean to me

A special place

I’m with people
But separated
There is talking around me
But I don’t hear it
When I enter this special space
It’s hard to leave
I like to linger
The world and its activities await
But I’d like to delay them
