When describing art and creativity 

These words come to mind

The unseen world, spirituality, mediation

Openness to the universe, observation

So art and creativity are spiritual things

They reveal what is in another realm

In a beautiful story, poem or painting

The world of spirit is fascinating

But so much of it is unknown to us

What is the interplay between the spiritual and the physical?

How can we describe the spiritual realm?

These questions may not have answers now

But that’s how creativity manifests itself

The muse, inspiration, dreams, flashes of ideas

Help us create 

We need to be an open channel 

And let things emerge

Tangled in my zentangles

And there is no way out 

It’s an obsession

It’s hard to stop

So much variety

So many possibilities 

All leading to beauty

Unexpected, a surprise

If I write poems

I try to write everyday

If I make collage cups

I keep making them and collecting them

Now that I draw zentsngles

It has becomes a daily affair

Something in the repetition 

Is soothing, reassuring 

It’s all about art

And art is uplifting

And there is the element of surprise

My work is never planned ahead 

So it is that my zentangles 

Have tangled me in their web

“Creativity is free play with no rules”

This speaks to me

This frees me to be who I am

To create what I want

Not to judge myself or my work

Creating should be fun, not a burden

Creating should bring us joy

Rules create restrictions

And creativity needs freedom 

When we create

There is no right or wrong

What we create is a reflection of who we are

Others may not understand it 

Or may be critical of it

But that should not discourage us

What we create is valuable at all times

Sometimes the finished work may not be what we expected

Sometimes we learn a lesson we can apply later

But continuing to create is the way to success

Success in sharing our voice

Success in being a conduit for the forces of the universe

So, let’s play

Let’s create and be joyful 

Let’s not worry about rules

As they say, rules are made to be broken

There would be no innovation

If everyone kept doing the same thing

My bead necklace

It’s a handmade necklace made of Amazonite, Gladstone and Honey Clacite beads

The Honey Calcite beads are translucent and in shades of yellow and orange

Exactly how you would expect them to be

They are believed to increase confidence and courage

And assist in overcoming obstacles

The Amazonite beads are opaque and in shades of light green

They dispel negative energy and calm the nervous system 

And help in maintaining good health 

The Gladstone beads come in different shades

Mine glitter and are a dark goldish colour

These beads are said to have healing powers and call your spirit into serenity

But the most special aspect of this necklace

Is the love that went into creating it

The thoughtfulness

The generosity 

The caring

It is a gift from a kindhearted soul

Who is concerned about my well being

Time and creativity and positive energy

Have gone into making it

And a lot of goodwill

Those things by themselves bring me joy and healing

58 is a good year!

And what is a good year?

A year when creativity thrives

A year when growth occurs

A year of joyful times and challenging times

A year of time spent with family and friends

A year of writing and bringing writing projects to fruition

A year of seeing my children living their lives as young adults

Finding their places in society

And serving their community

A year of travel

And seeing old friends from Iran

Another year of filling my journals

Writing poetry

And sharing them with my friends

The years go by one by one

And 58 will be a great year!

When we say music nourishes my soul

What do you think that soul is?

When we say may his soul Rest In Peace

Where do you think his soul is?

 

Soul in intangible 

Can’t be measured or seen

Soul is mysterious 

Can’t be comprehended easily

But soul is essential 

Soul is vital

 

Our soul is what creates

What solves problems

Our soul is what dreams

What creates magic

Our soul is responsible for all the good we do

Joy is a quality of our soul

 

I think we should pay more attention to our souls

Contemplate what nourishes them and helps them grow

Because I hear our soul is eternal 

And as such, our efforts will be worthwhile

These are interesting times

We have virtual coffee dates

Zoom get togethers

And communicate with others

From the comfort of our homes

 

These are interesting times

Empty streets

Stores that had to close

Even hairdressers!

I’d say this is an essential service

Especially for the ladies

 

These are interesting times

Health care workers

Are putting themselves in danger

To save others’ lives

 

These are interesting times

Families can spend more time together

And we are forced to slow down

 

These are interesting times

Resilience is needed

Hope is essential

Patience is necessary

And creativity is helpful

 

These are interesting times

Kind words and deeds go a long way

Prayer and meditation provide a balm

Nature is still our playground

 

These are interesting times

We can see that the world has become

A global village

Cooperation is needed

And we each need to do our part

Why do we want to got to Mars?

Aren’t there enough interesting places on Earth?

Have we explored everywhere?

 

Yes, we’ve been to the top of the tallest mountains

We’ve been to the depths of the oceans

We’ve been to the Arctic and deserts vast

Why are we not content with that?

 

We have this need to explore the unknown

We have the desire to push the limits further

We like to do what has not done before

This is what separates us from animals

Who are content with the status quo

 

So, we’ll make it to Mars one day 

Like we have made it to the moon

This challenge will be met too

With creativity, the advancement of technology

And experiences of the past

This goal with be met one day, I’m sure

Being able to laugh again

Today, I’m thankful that my creativity is back

And I want to write again

Today, I’m thankful to have energy

To do what is needed

Today, I’m thankful to walk in the sun

Having left the shadows behind

Today, I’m thankful to feel calm again

To face the things that come my way

Today, I’m thankful to have my optimism back

Along with my sunny disposition

Today, I’m thankful to feel well again

Once more, I’ve conquered darkness
