Jagged lines

We want what we do to be perfect from the start
We feel the need to succeed right away

But no success has come without trials
There is beauty in the imperfect climb
People who succeed
Have failed many time
They know how not to get discouraged
And stay focussed

They keep their eyes on the goal
And keep climbing
Detours and road blocks are
Part of the climb

If we keep doing something long enough
And improve as we go along
There is no way we can’t succeed
And the jagged lines of our climb
Make our path beautiful and unique

The art of life…

The art of life…
The hardest art to master
The lessons start when we are young
And never end like any other art!

This art’s techniques are endless
Kindness, compassion, love, honesty
Generosity, curiosity, persistence and so on
These techniques we can learn early on
But to perfect them, one needs time

There are many teachers we come across
Each teaches us something new and exciting
But mastery comes only with practice
And that part is up to us!

There may be times we wish to start a piece
We are creating over again
Times when we look at an older piece
And wonder, ‘where was my head’
Some pieces take a very long time
Some pieces feel inspired and need no effort at all!

But if we persevere
If we work hard
We can create such beauty with this art!
And old pieces may not look perfect
But they were part of the process
And we never start perfect!

On creativity and art

Valley of sadness…

When a crisis visits, big or small
When the storm is relentless, will not stop…
Take a deep breath and feel what you feel
Every feeling should be welcome, allowed to come in

But when the intensity of feeling gets hard to bear
Try to be gentle and patient with yourself
Get busy doing something that cheers you up
Lend a helping hand to a friend or a stranger
And cheer them up

Get outside of your world
And enter someone else’s life
There are many people who are suffering
Suffering doesn’t discriminate at all…

Sometimes little things or big things will get you down
You will enter the valley of sadness for a while
But if you keep walking and don’t stop
You will walk through the valley and eventually walk out!

The valley of sadness, can be hot and dry
It will challenge your endurance most times
But there is always an end if you persist
The secret is to hang in there and not give up!

Crossing the valley of sadness is much easier, of course
If you have good friends and a supportive family by your side!
