Hell freezes over

When I’m depressed I move through life like molasses

The simplest things take so long to do

And most of the time I have no motivation to do them

I have to force myself to do the easiest tasks

And then I wonder what happened to me?

How did I use do things so easily, so quickly?

Why is my life in slow motion?

I think of my life and the things I’ve accomplished

And wonder how I used to be so effective, so creative?

It is like living in a different body

Or like my mind has gone on holiday

It is quite discouraging to say the least

And doesn’t do much for my self-esteem

I watch people laugh and go about their lives

While I feel stuck and left behind

These are the unfortunate realities of depression

Each time, I know or I hope I’ll feel better soon

But it always takes much longer than I think

And days go by so slowly

At such times, my friends are my life boats

They give me energy to go on

Their encouragement is the sunshine of my day

Their love lifts me up

Depression sucks!

And only good friends and family

Are my solace during those times

Home

A trip away from home gave me a new perspective

A trip to the other side of the world brought me closer to my home

We take so much for granted and I’m no exception

It’s hard to know what you have till it’s gone

Montreal may have long brutal winters

Lots of potholes and unending construction

But it’s the city of culture

In Montreal, all races and nationalities live side by side

Our lives are made richer this way

There is much variety and

We’re exposed to different perspectives and ideas

Montreal is a city of art, music, theatre and sports

It’s the city of writers and poets

It’s a place one can be inspired and thrive

It took me going to a land far off

To appreciate what I have at home

To appreciate friendships I’ve made over the years

Having lived in Montreal for seventeen years

This is the place I call home now

My favorite town…

My favorite town would be a multicultural town
People of all colours and backgrounds getting along

My favorite town would be a creative town
Where artists gather
Art is appreciated
And it’s part of life

My favorite town would be sunny and warm
Warm but not hot
Lots of blue sky!

My favorite town would be a friendly town
Where people encourage each other all the time

My favorite town would be a beautiful town
Beauty of nature and man-made beauty existing side by side

My favorite town would be a colourful town
Alive with different shades and hues
Full of fun!

My favorite town would be a happy town
Laughter would be heard here and there
Giggles would fill the air

Montreal, where I live
Has many of the things that I want
Add lots of sun and warmer winters to what it has
And I’d be living in my favorite town!
