To write or to draw

To write or to draw?
It shouldn’t be a choice
But there are only so many hours in the day
And when something is new
I want to pay the most attention to it
So, I draw in the morning
Sometimes I draw at night
That blank page is so inviting
The possibilities endless
It’s the imagination’s playground
Who knows what I can create
Black and white or colour?
Inspired by something I see on the internet or something within myself
The process is exciting and relaxing at the same time
Exciting to create and see the final result
Relaxing to doodle and draw lines
I’m thankful for the inspiration to write and to draw

Solitude

Sometimes a period of solitude is good

Unplugging

And instead of going to far off places

Going within

Sometimes a period of solitude is good

Listening to oneself think

Or just simply being

In my solitude I like to write

That’s how I keep myself company

My dialogue is an internal one

I speak intimately with my spirit

I pose questions

I present ideas

I mull things over

I analyze

Sometimes we need to listen to ourselves

Reflect a bit

Recharge

Solitude can be healing and energizing

But for me it should not last too long

The slow lane…

If you can go 70 miles an hour all the time
Please do!
Don’t mind me in the slow lane!

I’ve gotten to know myself
I’m a sprinter
For a while I can enjoy the fast lane
And then I need to take a break

I used to push myself too much a lot of the time
Not listen to the “I’m tired” signals!
Compare myself to others all the time
Crash and burn after a while

And truth be told
Sometimes, I still do!

But I try to pace myself
No, I won’t be everywhere all the time
I need time to reflect as well
I need time to write and process my thoughts

So, it will be the slow lane sometimes
The no-rush lane
The smell-the-roses lane
The relax and play lane

So my mind and body can recuperate
And get ready for the fast lane!

Green Acre

Placeless place

Sometimes I need to escape
The clutter of my thoughts
The chatter of my to-do list
The routine tasks of life
And let myself float
In that etherial space
That has no name

I have to quiet my mind
Open my heart
And listen to what is normally
Drowned by the noise of life

I have to go that placeless place
And wonder a while
I have to read words that inspire me
Write what comes to me
And get lost in that place
I can’t describe

All I know is that
I return from that place
Feeling refreshed
Feeling calm

Starbucks

The place I come to relax!
To write!
To forget my to-do list!
To just sit silently
To read
To be surrounded by people and music
To sit with my face in the sun
or next to the fireplace
To empty my cup
To catch my breath
To meditate and contemplate
To drink my morning coffee
To find my balance
To have some me-time
so I can care for others
the rest of the day!
